Happy Buddha Jayanti - The day Buddha was born! 07/05/2020

Lord Buddha, the founder of Buddhism was born in Lumbini, Nepal. His mother died when he was just a week old so his father kept him inside his palace to protect his son from miseries and suffering of the real world for 29 years. One day when he left his palace, he realised life was very different in real. For the first time, he saw old, ill and dead people. He realised that was his fate too so he left his palace to find answers on :
Why does one grow old?
Why does one get sick?
Why does one die?
He went through various practises and put his body in severe pain, fasting nearly to starvation and refusing water.
Whilst different religion have a different meaning of grace, The example of grace in Buddhism comes from an ordinary girl who offered a hungry buddha a bowl of rice pudding when he realised his way of meditating in extreme deprivation isn’t right. This was when Buddha realised he must accept and live like normal human beings.

Long story short! After a lot of struggle when he finally got enlightenment, there were stories that he didn’t want to teach people what he learnt! He saw the nature of envy, jealously and negativity within people and he was worried they may think he is crazy as he was ordinary.
Later, when he finally taught others about his religion, they all realised Buddhism isn’t about being special instead it was about being ordinary following the rules of “Dharma” by doing ordinary things! Hence why I feel like there are various versions of buddha around us even today as Budhha just means awakened one or enlightened one

May Lord Buddha give you the wisdom so that you are led on to the path of peace, love and truth. Here’s wishing you and your family a happy Buddha Jayanti.
