Due to the devastating floods in Nepal and the loss of many lives, we are coming together in a more meaningful way this year. Let us light a candle, remember those we have lost, and stand with the families and communities affected.

Teej is not only a time for celebration. It is also a time to share our happiness and sorrow, support one another, and stand together as a community.
This year we invite everyone to join us in remembering those who have lost their lives and showing compassion and solidarity with those affected by the floods in Nepal.
Ladies, gents, children and the entire community are welcome.
Free refreshments including tea, sel roti, achar and simple Nepali food and snacks will be provided by our volunteers.
In happiness and in sorrow, we stand together.

Nepal Flood Emergency Appeal
Together for Nepal
Nepal is facing one of its most devastating disasters in recent years.
At least 359 people have lost their lives. Hundreds remain unaccounted for. Thousands of people have been affected. Homes, roads, bridges and livelihoods have been swept away, leaving families desperately needing food, clean water, shelter, medicines and basic essentials.
Behind every number is a mother, father, child, friend or family waiting for news.
Who We Are
This appeal is organised by Nepal Scotland Association, a Scotland-based community organisation serving the Nepalese community since 2004, in association with the Himalayan Centre for Arts & Culture, Edinburgh.
We are part of the Nepalese community in Scotland. Nepal is our home, our heritage and where many of our families and friends live.
When Nepal is hurting, we cannot simply watch from thousands of miles away.
Where Will Your Money Go?
Our aim is simple: get help to the people who need it most.
Money raised will support verified flood-affected families and communities with:
- Food and clean drinking water
- Emergency shelter and blankets
- Medicines and hygiene essentials
- Support for families who have lost their homes and livelihoods
- Recovery and rebuilding where urgently required
Funds will be distributed through verified and trusted organisations or partners working with affected communities in Nepal, based on the needs identified on the ground.

Nepal scotland association (NSA) was established in 2004.
We have been involved in various projects around Leith and Edinburgh area, such as earthquake relief project, Scottish climate change project and organizing various annual Nepali cultural programs with the local and other ethnic minorities’ community.
Our aim is to work in partnership to promote our as well as other culture, identities, and inclusion .

Our Official Partner
Himalayan Centre for Arts and Culture has grown out of the Nepalese community in Scotland. Nepal Scotland Association organises many cultural events that bring together people in Edinburgh and across Scotland, improving their quality of life and promoting understanding.
However, the lack of affordable, culturally suitable venues has made it difficult for NSA, and other diaspora communities, to organise these colourful community celebrations. After years of effort, the Himalayan Centre is our official partner and is now an affordable venue with multi-purpose rooms designed to be used by people from all cultural backgrounds.
It is fully accessible, energy efficient, warm and a welcoming place. It is an ideal venue to practice, participate, create, celebrate and showcase international arts and cultural activities with facilities:
– To celebrate festivals and cultural events and arts exhibitions.
– For music, theatre and dance workshops and performances
– For business meetings and conference facilities
– For workshops and training sessions.
